The ophthalmology service at Cambridge is happy to accept referrals of dogs, cats or exotic pets with any eye conditions for diagnosis and treatment. Often the easiest way to deal with such cases is first to chat with David Williams, our ophthalmologist, who is happy to be contacted. Please also refer to David’s website where you can also test yourself on the numerous cases posted there.
David has a particular interest in steps to prevent diabetic cataract in dogs and would be happy to accept diabetics currently without cataract onto a trial of alpha lipoic acid which shows promise in preventing cataract formation in such cases. He is also investigating a cross linked hyaluronic acid polymer gel for use to aid healing of stromal corneal ulcers in dogs and cats.
